TIDEBONE Scoop Development Brief: Engineering for Ground That Moves

Pipeline hardware program for moving ground: modular shaft architecture, polymer-basket exploration, and working geometry that must prove itself in sand, gravel, and water-edge conditions.

Current evidence state: the working concept is defined, but geometry, material, joints, abrasion behavior, buoyancy, and production architecture remain under validation.

Problem

Sand does not behave like dirt. It collapses, drains, refills, hides edges, and changes character between the dry line and the water. A sand scoop has to move material quickly without becoming heavy, awkward, or miserable to pack.

Field obligation

The MR POCKET TIDEBONE Scoop must drive into moving ground, lift useful material, drain efficiently, retain the target, and survive repeated abrasion while remaining practical to transport.

Current engineering direction

The present concept uses a modular shaft architecture and a reinforced polymer recovery basket with a working angle around 45 degrees relative to the shaft. Exact shaft material, joint system, basket dimensions, perforation pattern, wall thickness, weight, and included components remain development variables.

Why polymer is being explored

Polymer creates opportunities for corrosion resistance, quieter transport, distributed reinforcement, and float-conscious behavior. It also creates hard obligations: the basket cannot flex excessively, split around perforations, wear through at the leading edge, or concentrate stress at the shaft socket.

Why modularity matters

A full-length scoop is awkward in a vehicle and worse to travel with. Modular sections can reduce packed length, but the joints must resist rotation, contamination, and repeated assembly without creating oversized weak points.

What is established

  • The product role is shoreline and sand recovery.
  • Packability and working leverage are core requirements.
  • A polymer basket and modular shaft are active development directions, not final production commitments.

What must be proven

  • Digging leverage and wrist position.
  • Drain speed and target retention.
  • Basket stiffness, impact, and abrasion resistance.
  • Socket and modular-joint durability.
  • Sand intrusion and field cleaning.
  • Buoyancy behavior of the complete assembly.
  • Packed size, carry, and setup time.

Release gate

The design must survive dry sand, wet compacted sand, mixed gravel, shallow water-edge use, repeated assembly, and meaningful abrasion before final specifications are published.

Decision: remain in development pipeline. No final material, price, warranty, compatibility statement, or release date has been locked.
